The Magic of "Twixmas": Your Secret Sauce for a brilliant 2026

The Magic of "Twixmas": Your Secret Sauce for a brilliant 2026

Why the quiet days between Christmas and New Year are the most powerful days of the year.

Introduction The torn wrapping paper has been tidy away. The leftover turkey has been turned into tasty sandwiches. The relatives have (finally) gone home, or are at least quiet in front of the telly.

Welcome to the "In-Between Days."

Some people call it "Twixmas." It’s that strange, fuzzy time between December 26th and January 1st where nobody knows what day of the week it is, and it’s perfectly acceptable to have chocolate for breakfast. But here at Get Up and Go, we believe this secret week is actually the most magical time of the year.

Why? Because it is the only time the world actually stops long enough for you to catch up with yourself.

The "Soft Launch" of the New You There is so much pressure on January 1st. We expected to wake up on New Year’s Day and suddenly be resolved to be fitter, more organized, and completely reinvented. That is a lot of pressure for a Tuesday!

Instead, why not use these quiet days to "soft launch" your 2026?

It's time get aquainted with your new Get Up and Go Diary. Hold it gently. It feels so good to know the next year is in safe hands - yours! You don't have to a to-do list. You don't have to schedule a meeting. Just browse and play with the words on the pages.  Let them sync in.

3 Things to Do With Your Diary Before January 1st

1. The "Brain Dump" (Clear the Clutter) Before you can "Get Up and Go," you have to let go of what is weighing you down. Use the notes section at the back of your current diary (or the fresh pages of your new one) to write down everything from 2025 you want to leave behind. Worries, unfinished tasks, stress—get it out of your head and onto the paper. Leave it there.

2. Fill in the "Fun Stuff" First Most people fill their diaries with dentist appointments and work deadlines. This year, do the opposite. Go through your 2026 planner and mark the good stuff first.

  • Your best friend’s birthday.

  • A planned weekend away.

  • The bank holidays (essential!).

  • Nollaig na mBan (Women’s Christmas) on January 6th. Seeing these bright spots on the page changes how you view the year ahead. It’s not just a schedule; it’s a year of your life waiting to be lived.

3. Pick Your "Word of the Year" We love inspirational quotes—our diaries are full of them! (There’s 102 Power Words to choose from on page 472 of your Daily Planner for Busy Women) But what is your word for 2026? Is it "Brave"? "Balance"? "Kindness"? “Courage”? “Confidence”? “Love”? “Peace”? Write it in big, bold letters on the very first page. Every time you open your diary, journal or planner next year, that word will be there to greet you.

A Note to the Parents  If your kids were lucky enough to get a Diary for Young People under the tree, sit down with them this week! Show them that planning isn't about homework—it's about dreaming. Ask them: "If you could do one cool thing next year, what would it be?" and help them write it down. You are building a habit that will serve them for life.
